A space for budding businesses opened its doors in Hunts Point only in January, but it already has come to house more than 50 promising startups.
The Sunshine Incubator offers low-cost office space to entrepreneurs like Yadilka Friars, who has been running her marketing businesses out of the Bank Note Building.
"As a new mom, it's really hard to concentrate at home, so I needed a place to get away and really devote myself," she says.
The sleekly furnished space offers television screens that allow Bronx and Manhattan business owners to network with each other and increase business exposure. The Incubator also has three conference rooms and high-speed Internet access.
Renting space at the Incubator is done on a monthly basis, with costs starting at $195 a month. The site's manager says some of the startups are already expanding.
