A new athletic director hopes to turn around the struggling teams at SUNY Maritime.
SUNY Maritime?s sports teams have had trouble competing in recent seasons. In two years of existence, the football team has won a total of three games while the basketball team is coming off of a four-win season. Russ Ketcham, the new athletic director, will oversee the athletics department and believes the teams can turn it around.
?All of our sports are striving to be the best they can be,? Ketcham said. ?All I can hope is that I can give them some kind of leadership.?
Ketcham said he hopes the school can begin a more intense recruitment process for its athletics programs.
The new director believes all SUNY Maritime athletics needs ?is a little bit of time and a little bit of work.?
