New York City residents gathered Friday night in an act of remembrance for O'Shae Sibley, the Brooklyn man killed Saturday at a gas station parking lot.
The Mobil gas station became the sight for vigils and a call for action. People filled the parking lot Thursday night and Friday night to call for justice for Sibley.
Sibley was stabbed to death after he was dancing with friends while pumping gas. Witnesses say an opposing group began shouting homophobic slurs before the situation quickly escalated when someone pulled out a knife.
A vigil is also planned for Saturday at Manhattan's LGBTQ community center, along with a celebration of life Tuesday in Philadelphia.
