Breast cancer survivors, their families and friends gathered in Prospect Park Sunday for the Making Strides Against Breast Cancer walk.
Cancer survivor Cheryl Cofield, of Flatbush, says she is able to look back on her story with a bit of humor after all she?s been through. As she crossed the finish line, Cofield say she is thankful for one more walk as a breast cancer survivor.
The American Cancer Society says more than 1 million new cancer cases will be diagnosed in the United States this year with 1,400 in and around Brooklyn.
Organizers say the money raised from the walk will go to research, support and educational programs for Brooklyn patients, survivors and families.
