Police have identified the man fatally shot while sitting in his car in East Flatbush Wednesday morning.
Melvin Pippins, of Crown Heights, was shot when a gunman in a dark-colored car pulled up alongside his car and fatally shot him, police say.
The shooting occurred at 165 East 19th St. at around 2 a.m., according to investigators. Police are searching for a gunman.
Surveillance video from several angles recorded the attack. The dark car pulls up next to a silver car parked on 19th Street near Beverly Road. Several shots fly into the silver car before the apparent assailant speeds off.
A woman is shown running out of the silver car just moments before a man stumbles out and limps toward shelter in a nearby building, where police say he collapsed.
The 25-year-old man suffered a gunshot wound to his chest, police say. Emergency workers rushed him to Kings County Hospital, where medical staff pronounced him dead.
Police say the suspect was a man wearing a dark-colored hooded sweatshirt. They are looking for both him and the dark car.
Anyone with information about the case is asked to call Crime Stoppers at 1-800-577-8477.
