The three men who police say are responsible for the death of an innocent bodega worker during an armed robbery got their day in court.
Christopher Dorsey, 17, and Orlando Ramos, 32, had about two-dozen family members at Bronx Supreme Court Houses in a show of support. The men have been charged with second-degree murder in connection with the NYPD shooting of 18-year-old Reynaldo Cuevas.
A third suspect, 28-year-old Ernesto Delgado, waived his right to appear in court, and his lawyer says he will not be testifying in a grand jury. He'll be back in court later this month.
According to authorities, the three men attempted to rob a bodega on 169th Street and Franklin Avenue last week. They say Cuevas was accidentally shot and killed by an officer as he came running out of the store.
Family members say they admit the men were wrong for trying to rob the corner store, but don't think it's fair that they be charged with murder when it wasn't them who pulled the trigger. Dorsey and Ramos are scheduled to appear in court next Thursday, at which date Ramos' attorney is expected to file an application for bail. Delgado is set to appear in court the following Thursday.
