An out-of-control SUV jumped a curb in Red Hook and mowed down a mother and her two young girls on the sidewalk Friday night.
According to police, the two children, ages 4 and 10, were walking with their mother around 8 p.m. when a Dodge Durango apparently lost control at Richards and Wolcott streets. Police say after the SUV struck the family, it crashed into a fence across the street before stopping in a lot.
The mother and her children were taken to Lutheran Hospital. Police say their injuries are not serious. Police are investigating the cause of the accident. The driver has not been charged in the crash.
