A set of earrings at a Greenpoint jewelry store created a major stir recently over the perceived connection they have with Nazi Germany.
The swastika earrings at Bedazzled Jewelry on Manhattan Avenue had some upset that they were offered for sale.
The owner of the store, through a translator, said that the earrings were not a Nazi swastika, but an ancient Tibetan and Chinese symbol for peace and eternity.
Councilman Steve Levin (D-Brooklyn) spoke with the owner about the sensitivity issues involving the symbols.
He says that he holds no ill will against the store.
The store owner said the earrings have been removed and won't be sold anymore.
