Police and prosecutors announced the indictments of 18 alleged gang members Wednesday morning.
District Attorney Ken Thompson and NYPD Commissioner Bill Bratton said that the sweep targeted the Folk Nation street gang, which they accused of performing more than 30 shootings in the last year and a half.
Prosecutors accuse the suspects of rampant violence in Canarsie, Flatbush and East Flatbush. Some of the major charges include conspiracy to commit murder and weapons possession.
In one case, surveillance video appears to show one of the suspects shooting a gun with children nearby.
Some of the suspects are facing a maximum of 25 years to life in prison. Several are due back in court March 22.
