The Riverdale synagogue authorities say was targeted in a terror plot last month will soon receive federal money to bolster its security.
Department of Homeland Security officials say the agency will allocate $150 million to fight terrorism in high-threat neighborhoods. The Riverdale Temple, located at 4545 Independence Ave., has already received more than $58,000 for additional security and will be among the groups receiving a fraction of the $150 million.
Authorities say four men planted what they thought were C-4 explosives in front of the Riverdale Temple and Riverdale Jewish Center on May 20. According to investigators, the mock explosives and an inactive missile were provided to the suspects by an FBI informant.
The men also allegedly planned to shoot down military planes at the Stewart Air National Guard base in Newburgh.
