A Brooklyn teacher accused of hurting a minor is facing charges.
The NYPD took 57-year-old Roger Jassie into custody Wednesday. He is accused of kicking a minor in the chest.

Jassie, a teacher at the School of the Future Brooklyn, has been charged with assault and acting in a manner injurious to a minor.

The school's website lists Jassie as a seventh grade teacher, but the Department of Education told News 12 that he is a substitute teacher.

The DOE told News 12 in a statement, “The safety of our students is our top priority and this substitute teacher was immediately suspended without pay when we were made aware of this concerning allegation.”

The school building houses P.S. 174 as well as the School of the Future Brooklyn, so there are students ranging in age from elementary through junior high on premises.

Authorities haven't said specifically what may have led to the alleged assault.
