Police say a veteran school teacher was attacked and robbed Tuesday morning on the door step of a Catholic school in Marine Park.
The incident occurred around 6:30 a.m. on the front steps of Good Shepherd Catholic School. Witnesses believe the suspect crept up behind the victim and knocked her on the head. When the woman fell, the robber snatched her purse and took off from the scene.
But it is believed that the suspect returned for the teacher?s car when he realized that the keys to the vehicle were inside the purse.
The entire attack was caught on tape of a security camera pointed toward the school entrance.
The victim was taken to a community hospital to be treated for bruises to her face. She was later released.
School representatives declined to comment on the attack, and it is not known whether students and parents were notified of the incident.
