Teachers and parents of FDR High School students are rallying about the impact of the learning environment if ICE comes into schools.
News 12 has not previously reported ICE coming into schools in Brooklyn, but teachers like Yari Michel say it's the fear that they could that's impacting the learning environment.
"Many have stopped coming to school because they fear deportations, or they fear coming back from school and not finding their parents there. If they feel because of their immigration status, that they're not allowed to come in to the schools and get that quality education, then that's highly problematic," said Michel.
"We unequivocally stand with all children in our city regardless of immigration status. We want to be very clear—our policies have not changed," says NYC Chancellor of Schools Melissa Aviles-Ramos.
