Members of a Brooklyn basketball team who say they were left high and dry by their own coach are trying to keep their playoff dreams alive.
Team Twelve has launched an online fundraising page after parents and players say that coach Karim Seabook took $40,000 of team money and disappeared. Police are investigating the allegations.
The money was supposed to be used for uniforms and pay for transportation to the Amateur Athletic Union national playoffs in Las Vegas.
New coach Anthony Bernard had harsh words for his predecessor, calling Seabook "a coward," and says that losing him amounts to getting rid of "cancer."
