A number of Brooklyn schools have been recognized by the state for their improved test scores and top-performing teachers.Three teachers from P.S 164 in Borough Park were nationally certified after submitting research papers and videos of their classes. The award places the teachers at the top of their profession. Two Brooklyn schools have also been removed from the state?s list of failing schools. William Maxwell High School and the School for International Studies in Carroll Gardens have improved their test scores and are no longer under state review. In addition, Mary McLeod Bethune Early Childhood Academy and the Hear Our Voices Pre-Kindergarten Program were both recognized for their early childhood education programs.
