A visit to a pumpkin patch, a corn maze, or a haunted house can give your wallet a scare this year.
Caleb Silver, editor in chief at Investopedia, says, "..if you are thinking about taking your family out for one of those adventures be prepared to spend upwards of $100 to $200 depending on what you intend to do."
News 12's Kristie Reeter decided to do a "no spend" weekend with her family.
Instead of a haunted house, she found a neighborhood known for going all out. She took her kids for a nighttime walk to check out the scary decorations.
Next stop for fall fun, a pumpkin patch and petting zoo. For this activity, she looked at a membership she already has to a science center. The center had a fall fest going on where they were giving out free pumpkins and had animals for the kids to interact with. The membership was already paid for, so this came in at $0.
The last activity was having her kids paint those free pumpkins from the science center with art supplies she already had on hand.
Options for free family fun this fall.
