Bus service is busier than ever, which brings a need for more employees.
News 12's Alexa Farrell has The Real Deal when it comes to careers in the transportation industry.
Whether you realize it or not, you likely can't go a day without some form of transportation, which makes sense as to why the transportation industry has made a huge jump in hiring.
"We are past 100% of pre-pandemic levels in ridership, so it's important to keep the schedules and keep the service reliable," says Doug Holcomb, the CEO of Greater Bridgeport Transit.
"We've seen a 23.7% surge year-over-year in job gains in that sector alone," says Caleb Silver, of Investopedia.
Other industries seeing a rise include arts and entertainment, along with merchant wholesalers.
Greater Bridgeport Transit is hiring for both city bus and mini bus drivers - full and part-time. They're also hiring mechanics, bus cleaners and administrative positions.
Holcomb says that their employees can expect a starting salary of about $22 per hour along with paid time off and benefits.
