The Vessel is a 150-foot-tall structure at Hudson Yards. It opened in 2019 but was reportedly closed down in 2021 after four people died by suicide. Soon, it will reopen with mesh barriers.
Sources close to Hudson Yards tell News 12 the mesh barriers will span from floor to ceiling.  They also say the first two levels of the Vessel will be fully open.  On the upper levels, only the portions of vessel with added barriers will remain open.  The top level will remain closed.  They say it’s not possible for visitors to cut the mesh.
A Hudson Yards spokesperson told News 12 in a statement:
“We have developed a plan to install floor-to-ceiling steel mesh on vessel while also preserving the unique experience that has drawn millions of visitors from around the globe...”
Hudson Yards says the Vessel will reopen later this year.
