‘They do whatever.’ Brighton Beach residents raise concerns about e-bikes on boardwalk
While many neighbors agreed that e-bikes and scooters are an ongoing issue, some said they're just doing their best not to let it get to them.

Residents in Brighton Beach are raising safety concerns about the boardwalk. They say despite posted signs prohibiting motorized e-bikes and scooters, people ride them all the time.
"They do whatever. And they like speeding here a lot," said Katya Kulisah, who walks along the boardwalk almost every day with her daughter.
She said she always has to be on the lookout.
"I know one of my friends, they were walking with a stroller, and one of the scooters collided with them. So basically the baby was knocked out, but nothing was done," said Kulisah.
Others said the e-bikes and scooters are also taking a toll on the boardwalk itself.
"They break the planks," said one man who uses the boardwalk twice a day.
While many neighbors agreed that e-bikes and scooters are an ongoing issue, some said they're just doing their best not to let it get to them.
"It doesn't bother me at all. People are free to use the boardwalk any way that they want," said one woman.
News 12 reached out to the New York City Department of Parks and Recreation about the concerns and is waiting for a response.
But for those worried about their safety, they’re hoping the rules will finally be enforced so they can get back to enjoying the boardwalk.
