Thousands of friends, family members, city officials and police officers from across the nation bid farewell today to a veteran NYPD officer killed in the line of duty. Officer Peter Figoski, a 22-year veteran of the 75th Precinct, was shot in the face last week during an apartment robbery in Cypress Hills. Among those in attendance at St. Joseph's Roman Catholic Church in Babylon were Mayor Michael Bloomberg and NYPD Commissioner Ray Kelly. Figoski's casket was carried by several fellow officers, and bagpipers played "Amazing Grace" as his four daughters trailed behind. Commissioner Kelly posthumously promoted Figoski to detective during the funeral Mass. Lamont Pride and four other men have been arrested and are facing second-degree murder charges in the case.AP wire services contributed to this report. For Chopper 12 footage of NYPD officer Peter Figoski's funeral, click on iO Extra on Channel 612.
