Winding through traffic-free roads, thousands of bicyclists took part in the 31st Five Boro Bike Tour Sunday.
The bike riders arrived in Brooklyn around 10:15 a.m. They took a few minutes to energize themselves with oranges and water at Commodore Barry Park, located at Nassau and Navy streets.
About 30,000 cyclists participated in the 42-mile tour, which is the largest recreational cycling event in the United States. Tour highlights included biking around Central Park, the Brooklyn waterfront and across the Verrazano-Narrows Bridge to Staten Island.
The race ended with a free ferry ride back to Manhattan from Staten Island.
