If your lights are flickering or your air conditioner isn’t cooling like it should, you’re not alone.

Con Edison says about 2,200 customers across Brooklyn have been dealing with power issues—with the hardest-hit spots in Borough Park, Bay Ridge, Dyker Heights, Sunset Park, and Williamsburg.

In some cases, the power isn’t fully out—but it’s running lower than usual. That’s because Con Ed is intentionally reducing voltage in these areas to protect their equipment and make emergency repairs.

News 12 drove through Borough Park early this morning and saw buildings with power, but neighbors say it’s not working the way it should.

“The AC in the bedroom is working but the rest of the house— the lights are very dim. You can’t even read in the house at all,” said Borough Park resident Mordecai Hirschhorn.

“It’s a big worry. A lot of the streetlights are out—especially at big intersections. We came back from New Jersey last night, and the lights were flashing yellow. People didn’t know how to navigate it—it was really scary.”

Con Edison is asking everyone in the impacted neighborhoods to help conserve power by doing the following:

  • Skip using big appliances like washing machines, dishwashers, or microwaves—especially during the day.

  • If you have more than one air conditioner, just use one and keep it at the warmest comfortable setting.

  • Wait to charge electric vehicles until power is fully restored.

Crews are working around the clock, and some areas may get power back later today. Other neighborhoods are still being checked out.
