A Bronx Little League team scored a home run in the form of a major funding on Saturday.
The Throgs Neck Little League was presented with a $1.2 million check from Bronx Borough President Vanessa Gibson and Council Member Marjorie Velasquez.
The money, which was fought for by the community and budgeted by the city, will go solar panels that will help energize the park.
League organizers tell News 12 about one-third of their budget goes toward their Con Edison bill. They say that thanks to the funding, the money they save will go toward team needs.
The solar panels will be installed by Millennial Energy and team organizers say a timeline is in the works. They say any extra energy these panels create will go toward the community.
