Some Brooklyn residents spent their Sunday getting into the holiday spirit by getting a Christmas tree.
The experts at the Anthony Gallo Nursery on Flatbush Avenue offered some tips for keeping trees looking fresh all season.
They say to dip it in water after right after getting it home, and to make sure it doesn't have any additives, because that can make the tree's cut form a seal on the bottom. They say to put it in a stand, and keep a lot of water in it.
When the holiday season comes to a close, make sure to put your tree to the curb during the city's designated tree recycling period in January. The Department of Sanitation will use the trees it collects to make mulch.
