Tom Donlon rises as interim police commissioner
Donlon is a retired FBI agent, and served for more than 30 years as chief of the national threat center.

Mayor Eric Adams announced Tom Donlon will be the interim police commissioner.
This comes as Edward Caban stepped down amid the ongoing federal investigation.
Unlike Caban, Donlon has no experience in the NYPD, however, he has a career that reflects service at that state, national and international levels.
Retired NYPD Detective Phil Grimaldi told News 12 someone with experience should be selected for this position.
“That kind of gives me the feeling they want to have a federal eye, so to speak, on the NYPD since this is a federal investigation," said Phil Grimaldi, retired NYPD detective. "I’m sure there’s going to be a lot of suggestions made by the federal government to Adams on how to move forward with this whole scandal.”
Donlon is a retired FBI agent, and served for more than 30 years as chief of the national threat center.
He is also the former director of the Office of Homeland Security for New York.
