Two new state-of-the-art skate parks are coming to the Bronx, and the city is working with a legend to make it happen.

City officials say the rusted rails and worn ramps at Bronx Skate Park will soon be scrapped. More than $1 million will flip it into a 21st-century skate park for boards, bikes, roller blades and more.

Legendary pro skater Tony Hawk is helping to make this possible. His nonprofit, the Skatepark Project, is partnering with the city to put the Allerton Park and three others across the city on the fast-track.

Park renovations could take four to five years. However, Councilmember Oswald Feliz says the city hopes to finish construction at the Bronx Skate Park in the next year and a half.

Soundview Park will also get a brand-new, multimillion-dollar skating section along with two other sites in Brooklyn.

The final designs will be developed with help from local pro skaters.
