A woman on her way to become an American citizen is in serious condition after she was struck by a Town Car Thursday in Brooklyn Heights.
Witnesses told News 12 Brooklyn the black vehicle was speeding down Cadman Plaza West when it struck a median and then the woman before 7 a.m. The car then smashed into a Middagh Street building, where it knocked down scaffolding.
Officials confirm that the victim was on her way to the downtown federal courthouse to become an American citizen.
People said the pedestrian, who had just come from the A train subway, had little time to react. The latest accident in the busy area has some calling for the Department of Transportation to evaluate downtown traffic.
"There are joggers out here at 5 in the morning," said resident Julia Hirsch. "There are people of many ages, lots of women with little kids. It's ridiculous."
Police said the Town Car driver refused medical treatment at the scene. There's no word on whether he will face charges.
