An advocacy group for bicycling, walking and public transit is asking the average commuter how they would resolve traffic problems in the busy intersection of Fourth Avenue and Ninth Street.

A contest by Transportation Alternatives has yielded three winning concepts, including one that creates a bike lane in the center of the avenue while creating more green space for the neighborhood.

The only one who can make changes to the city?s landscape would be the Department of Transportation. Transportation Alternatives hopes that the DOT will take some of the proposed concepts and put them to good use.
