Police are searching for a group of men suspected of viscously attacking a transgender woman in Bushwick.
Police say the transgender woman was walking on Bushwick Avenue when she ran into four men yelling anti-gay slurs. After a verbal altercation, authorities say one of the men struck the victim in the head with a Plexiglas board and left her unconscious.
The victim was taken to Elmhurst Hospital where she is in critical condition. The incident is being investigated as a possible bias crime.
The Center for Anti-Violence Education in Park Slope says it has seen a recent rise in attacks against transgendered people.
