Transit cops are confiscating more weapons on Brooklyn and city trains, according to a published report.
The Daily News reports that police officers have confiscated close to 300 knives and 13 guns in subways this year. That's compared to 116 knives and eight guns during the same time last year. The paper reports many of the weapons include razor blades and tools.
New York City Police Commissioner Raymond Kelly says the NYPD is stationing cops in subways in high-crime areas. Kelly says the effort has resulted in reduced subway crimes. The newspaper reported there have been 185 robberies in 2007, compared to 238 in 2006.
