A 5-month-old kitten was rescued Tuesday morning after falling into a sewer tunnel on Malcolm X Boulevard.
Animal Care and Control officials arrived on the scene in Bedford-Stuyvesant after receiving a call from a pizza shop owner, who said he heard meowing sounds coming from a sewer grate.
Workers used cat food to lure the trapped kitten out of the tunnel and pulled it to safety.
The kitten was taken to the headquarters of Animal Care and Control on Linden Boulevard to be checked by a veterinarian.
