Mayor Eric Adams and other city officials announced new waste bin rules that will go into effect later this year.

According to the mayor, buildings with 1-9 residential units will be required to put their trash in wheelie bins starting Nov. 12.

"Today, we are tossing even more black bags into the dustbin of history and taking the next step forward in our 'trash revolution,'" said Mayor Adams.

Restaurant owners are welcoming the changes with open arms - they say that it levels the playing field of trash disposal rules and makes for better business with outdoor seating if spaces are cleaner.

"It cannot... just be for restaurants. It's got to be kind of like everybody. So, I'm all for it. 100%," said the owner of the Burrito Bar in Flatbush. "I just think that residents, businesses... they shouldn't have to purchase [the bins]."

The rule was announced along with the first-ever official NYC Bin equipped with wheels and a lid. Bins can be bought by visiting the bins.nyc website.
