Students from the Trilok School in Fort Greene are working toward a greener future with Legos.
"A Tree Grows in Brooklyn" is an art project aimed at increasing environmental awareness and promoting a greener future in Brooklyn.
The project's goal is to create a metaphor of the hope for a green future in Brooklyn. It reaches around the walls of the school and is made with Lego toys. You can even find Legos outside in the school's garden.
Artist Jaye Moon inspired the project. She worked with students to come up with the Lego project in honor of Earth Day. "In the end of the project, the shape changes and it's no longer mine alone," said Moon. "So that is what is great about public art."
One of the unique aspects of project "A Tree Grows in Brooklyn" is the fact that all materials used by the students are recycled. The used Legos were donated from other schools, parents and the community.
