A fire broke out early Saturday inside a building in East Flatbush, leaving two people dead and two others seriously injured.

A 911 call came in at 6:49 a.m. reporting smoke and fire at 1693 Nostrand Ave., between Beverly and Cortelyou roads.

The fire was located on the second floor of a three‑story mixed‑occupancy building.

Four people were found inside. Two were pronounced dead at the scene, and two others sustained serious but non‑life‑threatening injuries.

The fire was placed under control at 7:38 a.m.

The cause and origin of the fire are under investigation.
