Two men were shot and killed just hours apart in Brooklyn overnight, one outside a home in East Flatbush and the other near a park in the Tompkins Houses in Bed-Stuy. Police are still searching for those responsible.
The most recent shooting happened around 1 a.m. Thursday on Beverley Road.
Police say 38-year-old Brandon Sylvester, of Englewood, New Jersey, was shot in the chest after a dispute escalated. Officers arrived to find him wounded outside a private home. He was rushed to Kings County Hospital, where he was pronounced dead.
Authorities are looking for a man last seen wearing a green jacket and blue jeans.
Just a few hours earlier, another deadly shooting happened at the Tompkins Houses on Park Avenue.
Investigators say a 37-year-old man was shot in the chest near a park inside the housing complex. He was also taken to Kings County Hospital, where he died.
Police are searching for three men who took off on foot one of them was wearing black and gray clothing.
Residents near the Tompkins Houses say the violence has become all too common.
"It’s amazing I live right behind the project, and it’s going on so often. People getting shot... You have to be afraid when you’re going into the building, you have to keep your eyes open. I’m not a young woman... There’s so much crime going on here," one neighbor said.
So far, no arrests have been made in either shooting. Police are asking anyone with information to call Crime Stoppers at 1-800-577-TIPS.
