President Joe Biden says escalating tensions between Russia and Ukraine could have many seeing prices rise at the pumps for the next few months.
Many gas stations on Long Island have prices to close to $4 for a gallon of regular.
Between gas prices and inflation, some Long Islanders say it is getting tough to afford it.
"I live paycheck to paycheck as it is now, and now with gas prices going up I don't want to go anywhere besides come to work," says Carissa Wyche, a mother of two young children
Experts like Andy Harris of the Long Island Gasoline Retailers Associations says prices at the pump could go up to $5 or $6 a gallon.
He doesn't expect the price to drop any time soon.
"There's nothing we can do about it," Harris says. "We all need to drive on Long Island to go to work."
