Authorities say vandals caused more than $100,000 in damage to the historic Green-Wood Cemetery earlier this week. Officials with the 174-year-old cemetery say the suspects destroyed 51 monuments late Monday evening or early Tuesday morning when the cemetery was closed. Green-Wood's vice president of operations says it appears the vandals climbed over a fence and ran through the cemetery, recklessly knocking down statues, crosses and archways. He says many of the monuments date back to the 1800s and cannot be replaced. Officials say they are working closely with police, who've collected fingerprints and DNA from the scene.
