For hundreds of Brooklyn residents driving down Eastern Parkway, you can't help but see the Caribbean flags hanging from windows, vendors started selling all kinds of goods and the smell of different foods.
Many told News 12 it feels like Carnival weekend has started. Cars are blasting music, the barricades are up for the parade and the food vendors already started prepping for the West Indian Day Parade.
On Nostrand and Eastern Parkway you can find Waffle Chic. It's a food truck with a variety of dishes that has a Jamaican twist. The owner of Waffle Chic came to New York from Jamaica and used to attend the West Indian Day Parade sampling a bunch of food from different Caribbean vendors. This year, it's her first time selling her dishes. A full circle moment she said she's been waiting for.
"It brings so much delight and joy that I can actually share this with someone who's going to be excited as I was when I first started coming to the parade," said Karen Davis, owner of Waffle Chic.
Waffle Chic is one of the dozens of vendors you can expect to see at the parade.
There's everything from jerk chicken to corn soup - and all the famous dishes from your favorite Caribbean islands.
