Saturday marked the first day of cashless tolling on the Verrazano-Narrows Bridge, hoping to improve drivers’ experiences on local rodways.
The new toll system looks to reduce congestion and travel time for motorists, while Gov. Andrew Cuomo adds that the change will reduce emissions and boost safety.
The Verrazano joins a growing number of bridges where sensors and cameras read E-Z Pass tags and take license plate tags.
The Throgs Neck Bridge and Bronx-Whitestone Bridge are due to go cashless this fall.
