Fallen soldiers and veterans were honored Monday with the Kings County 139th Memorial Day Parade and a 21-gun salute in Bay Ridge.
Residents lined 3rd Avenue to remember those who lost their lives in the line of duty, as well as veterans who risked their lives in battle. Veterans say Memorial Day is not only a day to remember those who have served the United States but also to remember those who are currently serving.
The ceremonies in Kings County wrapped up with speeches by veterans and a wreath-laying at John Paul Jones Park.
