After NYPD officer Angel Santiago lost his battle to the coronavirus, officers gathered in the Melrose section of the Bronx to mourn the loss and honor his memory.
Officers who worked with him and those within his command remember the 42-year-old by releasing balloons into the air.
Santiago had been with the department for 11 years and originally started out as a school safety agent.
The NYPD says he died due to COVID-19 on Palm Sunday.
He is survived by his wife and four children.
