Volunteers were at Green-wood Cemetery today to help with a restoration project.
The volunteers worked to restore a monument of Sarah W. Kairns, believed to be one of, if not, the oldest Brooklyn residents.
She passed away at the age of 117.
Officials say preserving the monument can be quite the learning experience for all involved.
They say the students can learn the proper restoration techniques and cleaning techniques, as well as a little bit about the history of New York.
