Volunteers are hard at work sprucing up a section of Cypress Hills.
People from Brooklyn Nets, the Barclays Center and the Academy of Innovative Technology are together transforming an empty lot on Chestnut Street, near Jamaica Avenue, into a flourishing new garden.
The volunteers have already started cleaning up the area, and planting flowers and herbs. They're also installing raised garden beds with soil and compost, and building picnic tables.
Participants say they're hoping their time will help secure a clean and healthy environment for many future generations.
