New Yorkers have voted in favor of three key state amendment proposals.

Voters approved the Smart Schools Bond Act allowing the state to borrow $2 billion to upgrade technology in public school classrooms. It will also help expand universal pre-kindergarten. 

There will also be a change to the state's redistricting procedure. The approved amendment will establish a commission that will decide the boundaries of legislative and congressional districts every 10 years. Currently, state legislators are responsible for redrawing those districts.

The third amendment will essentially allow legislators to receive bill proposals electronically, at least three days before they are voted on. The current law requires those bills to be physically printed.
