The Walton High School boys basketball squad downed Bronx rival Jane Addams High School Wednesday 84-63.
The teams met at Walton, where home team player Jonathan Paulino got a layup to put the Wildcats up 30-15. With time running out in the second quarter, teammate Manuel Martinez beat the buzzer to further Walton's lead to 47-29.
In the third quarter, Jaguars player Kemar Barcoo got a hold of the loose basketball to slam dunk, but Addams was still down by 18. Kevin White was Addams' MVP with 23 points and three assists. He leads the entire PSAL in scoring.
But his efforts fell short. Paulino got a hold of the ball again to score a three-pointer. He also scored 23 points and had two assists. The Wildcats were victorious by a score of 84-63.
Addams won only one game last season out of its 15.
