Brooklyn residents will have the opportunity to safeguard their catalytic converters at an upcoming theft prevention event.

Hosted by District Attorney Michael E. McMahon, organizers say the NYPD will mark your car's catalytic converter with a unique serial number to prevent theft and help prosecute thieves.

The free event will take place at the Ocean Breeze Athletic Complex located at 625 Capodanno Blvd. from 12-6 p.m. on Friday.
