A Good Friday tradition in Brooklyn had some changes because of the ongoing pandemic.
The Way of the Cross ceremony at St. James Cathedral of Basilica is a tradition that began in 1996, growing from a crowd of 30 to nearly 1,000.
Normally they cross over the Brooklyn Bridge, but restrictions required masks and social distancing in the church instead.
Dr. Francesco Rotatori carried the cross. At the height of the pandemic, the Bay Ridge native worked at Richmond University Medical Center in Staten Island helping in the fight against COVID-19.
