A Juneteenth event held at the Weeksville Heritage Center in Brooklyn celebrated Black culture and businesses.
The center is culturally significant because the neighborhood was founded by freed slaves in the 19th century.
The festival featured merchandise, live performances and food throughout the historic Weeksville area.
Although the ceremony ends Sunday, a special skywriting ceremony highlighting the original boundaries of Weeksville is scheduled to take place on Monday.
