Monday marks one year since the Taste of the City Lounge mass shooting where three people died and multiple people were injured.
The anniversary falls just one day after a deadly shooting happened outside a bar on Bergen Street and Howard Avenue.
Police say a 33-year-old mother of five was killed and a 34-year-old man was injured after gunfire erupted on a crowded Crown Heights street early Sunday morning, according to the NYPD.
Police responded to a 911 call reporting a person shot near the intersection of Bergen Street and Howard Avenue at 2:23 a.m. Detectives say gunfire erupted during an argument among a crowd of about 100 people gathered near Ooh La La Lounge and Bar. Residents like Cynthia Bowman say the shots were so loud it woke her up.
“Like firecrackers, boom boom boom boom. I didn’t know what it was," said Bowman.
When officers arrived, they found 33-year-old Sofronie Hartzog with a gunshot wound to the back and the 34-year-old man with a gunshot wound to the abdomen.

EMS rushed Hartzog to Brookdale Hospital, where she was pronounced dead. The male victim was taken by private means to Kings County Hospital in stable condition.
Neighbors like Jillian Charles say it's tragic.
“I think it’s just sad because in our community that’s all we’re seeing is crime on crime. We’re just killing each other," said Charles.
The shooting happened just a day before the one-year mark of the Taste of the City Lounge mass shooting in Crown Heights. Residents like Judith Ramos say it makes matters even worse.
“I think it’s overwhelming. It’s a lot to unpack. It’s a lot of grief. I think people can even be desensitized. It’s really unfortunate. Something needs to change here because it’s a beautiful neighborhood," said Ramos.
Police say Sunday's shooting happened after an argument. Ruby Miller, an anti-violence advocate with Greater Direction, says these incidents can be avoided.
“We try so hard to do things to make sure people have better ways to resolving conflicts. Unfortunately, we have a lot of work ahead of us," said Miller.
As of Monday evening, investigators say no arrests have been made in connection with Sunday's shooting.
