A family run pizza place in Williamsbridge is off the ground after a delayed opening due to the pandemic.
For Anthony Casabianca and his sons, pizza runs in the family.
The original Original Joe's opened back in 1972 in the Soundview section of the Bronx where Anthony worked with his dad Joe. Then he opened his own place in Manhattan in the early 2000s, and now Original Joe's is back but this time, in Wiliamsbridge with his own sons.
"We had a long struggle. We were supposed to be open back in September of 2020. Now we're open four months, and we're very excited, we love the neighborhood," says Anthony.
Anthony is also loving working with his family and passing on family recipes to his kids. Everything is made fresh daily from the dough to the sauce.
"I think our house favorite is the Margarita pie... We got our 'Special Grandma' which has chopped up onions, peppers, pepperoni, sausage, which is a great seller."
Besides their regular slices, they also sell specialty pies representing the Bronx like the Morris Park, the Williamsbridge and the Orchard Beach meat lover.
If you're not in the mood for pizza, they offer a variety of salads, calzones and pasta dishes.
"Lasagna, ravioli, manicotti, chicken parmesan, chicken marsala, chicken francese."
Customers can also buy sauces to take home to make their own pasta. Original Joe's is open every day from 10 a.m. to 10 p.m. except Sundays.
